Candace Edgerley

Biography

The work of Candace Edgerley is often technique driven. Daughter from a family of seamstresses, quilters and knitters, she was inspired to explore a wide range of methods to color, stitch, felt, knit and weave textiles. Travel and workshops in Japan, China, and Chili have expanded her knowledge of Shibori, one of her favorite methods of adding color and texture to silk and cotton. Winged Flight, wings of white silk organza pleated with Arashi Shibori, was part of the invitational Flight Patterns exhibition at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Edgerley’s experience teaching textile techniques at the former Corcoran College of Art Design provided the opportunity to share her love and knowledge of working with fibers.
